Their defensive structure had been pivotal in their path to the big dance and it proved decisive in a thrilling five-point victory – 7.6 (48) to 6.7 (43).It was a rematch of the second semi-final where North Beach took the chocolates, but they were well aware of the capacity of their opponents to turn the result around.
Their pre-disposition was vindicated from the first bounce as they engaged in a typical finals grind. It was a stalemate at the start of the quarter until Josh Tickner got the Beach on the board first.
From there the Tigers led throughout while Coolbinia refused to yield, firing every shot they had and making a late run in the last quarter.
Levi Cooper, who gained best on ground status, led from the front and his two goals in a low scoring affair proved influential in conjunction with a massive performance running through the midfield. He was supported up front by Josh Tickner who also booted two.
The Rose brothers, Ronan and Flynn, stepped it up through the midfield as they combined to give the Beach forwards first look, and once again co-captains Blake Sawyer and Liam Vardy kept everyone level-headed and got them over the line.
The entire back line was outstanding all season and Saturday was no exception as they all stood up once again. When they needed to stand tall the boys grew an inch taller and stopped every attack that was thrown at them to come away with a fantastic premiership.
