On a disappointing day for North Beach only one of the seven teams sent out to represent the club in the second round of the WAAFL competition, managed to score a victory.

While all other teams fell – mainly to the well-drilled Trinity-Aquinas teams, the Kane Kuehnen coached E-Grade combination flew the flag for the Beach with and outstanding display of running football.

The youthful third grade team, consisting largely of colts graduates from the past two or three seasons, moved the ball with purpose and direction in an exciting performance on their way 57-point triumph.

While the more seasoned James Nunan and Jason Plant were outstanding, it was many of the young guns who were under notice – particularly Matt Allen through the midfield, Simon Lorimer across half-back and young ruckmen Russell Normoyle and Fraser Graham.

It was an impressive display, but sadly the only victorious effort, with North Beach losing the A-Grade clash to TAs at Bill Grayden Reserve by three points, the A-Reserves going down by 19 points after a slow start and the Phil Scott Colts losing by just five points.

The E-Reserves, G-Grade and Brett Jones colts teams were all out-classed and suffered heavy defeats.

In a tight A-Grade encounter, the Tigers went down despite the best endeavours of players like Scott Ward, Chris Pearce , Chooka Ingham, Kyle Riemers, Alex Hack and Steve Bandy.
