North Beach stalwart Alan Lewington has been afforded the greatest honour available in amateur football by this week being afforded life membership to the WA Amateur Football League.
Lewington’s achievement is unique in that his recognition consisted entirely of his commitment and dedication to North Beach footy club. Most others recognised with such distinction have been involved at league level.
But Lewington has been a tireless devotee of the Tigers for many years and thoroughly deserves the recognition.
Lewington started at North Beach in 1994 as colts coach, joined the committee a year later and has essentially served in that capacity ever since. For 17 of those years he handled the onerous task of club registrar and was North Beach’s delegate to the WAAFL from 1995-2008.
Awarded life membership at North Beach in 2004, he has been a driving force for more than two decades and was naturally proud of his life membership of the WAAFL.
